We’re excited to announce our partnership with SIOS Technology, a leading Japanese technology provider, who will serve as our official SCANOSS reseller in Japan. This collaboration marks a key milestone in our mission to advance software transparency and reduce software supply chain risks through accessible and accurate Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) solutions.
As part of this alliance, SIOS Technology will offer SCANOSS’s SBOM tooling and OSS Intelligence datasets to the Japanese market, combining local sales expertise with first-line support in Japanese. Leveraging their deep experience with open source software (OSS) and commitment to digital transformation, SIOS will help accelerate adoption and guide customers in implementing SBOM effectively.
To support this, SIOS has released an “SBOM Introduction Guide” tailored to the needs of Japanese organisations exploring software composition analysis. The guide is available at: https://sios.jp/products/oss/scanoss/#sbom-implementation-guide.
Supporting Safer Software Development in a Complex Supply Chain
Open source software has become essential to modern development, but without visibility and governance, it can introduce licence compliance issues and security vulnerabilities. As software supply chains grow more complex, it becomes harder to manage dependencies and ensure transparency.
SBOMs address this challenge by mapping out the composition (ingredients) of software — including components, licences, cryptography and even the geographic origin of code. Our SCANOSS platform empowers organisations to adopt SBOM practices that are automated, continuous and integrated into their development workflows.
SIOS Technology has long supported safe OSS usage through its “OSS Yorozu Sodan-shitsu” support service. Through this new partnership, they will further help Japanese organisations adopt SBOM practices and gain control over the software they build and rely on.

About SCANOSS: What Sets Us Apart
SCANOSS is a Spain-based software company founded in 2020, committed to providing open source risk management that’s open, transparent and accessible. Our technology powers fast, scalable SBOM generation and deep software composition analysis, with datasets and insights that go beyond simple component detection.
Our platform includes four core datasets:
Licence Dataset: Understand licence obligations, compatibility, and attribution across all languages.
Cryptography Dataset: Identify cryptographic algorithms in both open source and proprietary code to meet export control regulations and prepare for quantum threats.
Security Vulnerability Dataset: Stay informed about the latest known vulnerabilities from sources like NVD, OSV and GitHub Advisories.
Geo Provenance Dataset: Gain visibility into where code comes from and who contributed it — critical for supply chain trust and compliance.
These features are available via API for integration into CI/CD pipelines and governance workflows.

A Word from Our CEO, Alan Facey
“Through our partnership with SIOS Technology, SCANOSS is bringing an advanced SBOM solution that not only enhances software transparency and security but also enables effortless integration and automation of OSS governance policies.”
Looking Ahead
As part of our international expansion, we’re proud to work with a forward-thinking company like SIOS to bring SCANOSS to a new audience. Together, we’ll help organisations across Japan build more transparent, secure and accountable software.
